I'm a mixed media artist, living and working in Leonardtown, Maryland. I create to honor life, the healing journey we are all on, and the special milestones along the way. My work celebrates family, faith, love, and change.
Beginning at eighteen, I started using art therapy while I was in treatment to heal wounds from childhood and to manage disordered eating behaviors. With the help of some very gifted art therapists, and therapeutic techniques and exercises, I discovered the healing power of creating. My art is filled with positive, life-affirming messages for a reason: I've used it to save my life. Art has been instrumental in helping me maintain a life free from anorexia. Through the decades of my fight and recovery, I have discovered how necessary it is for me to encourage others to celebrate life, to love themselves, and be true to who they are.
In September of 2017, my piece which celebrates friendship between women, "So Thankful For You," won First Place in Leonardtown ArtWalk. I've also been a guest speaker and sessional art group instructor at St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown. My work and recovery story has been featured in St. Mary’s County Times and The Enterprise.
I've had solo exhibitions in Solomons, Maryland at the Calvert Library Southern Branch and Solomons Gallery. Private collections of my work are held in several states, including California, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, Washington, and Wisconsin. My work can currently be viewed and purchased at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, St. Mary’s Art Council Gallery & Gifts, and Spice Studio in Leonardtown.
